খবরইন্ডিয়াঅনলাইনঃ যারা নির্বাচিত হলেন, জনগণের প্রতিনিধি হলেন, সেই সব মেয়র, কাউন্সিলরদের কাছে নগরবাসীর চাওয়া কী? আমরা মনে করি, চাওয়ার কিছু নেই! জনগণ যা চাইবে তা পূরণের প্রতিশ্রুতি জনপ্রতিনিধিরা আগেই দিয়ে রেখেছেন। তবে যত প্রতিশ্রুতিই দিক, একটা কমন প্রতিশ্রুতি সবাই দিয়েছেন- তা হলো পরিচ্ছন্ন নগর গড়া।
সুতরাং, আপনারা যদি সত্যিই আপনাদের প্রতিশ্রুতি পূরণ করতে চান, তাহলে দয়া করে আগে নজর দিন আপনারই এলাকায়। দেখবেন নির্বাচনী প্রচারণা করতে গিয়ে কী জঞ্জাল নগর জুড়ে ছড়িয়েছেন আপনারা। পোস্টার-জঞ্জালে জর্জরিত নগরবাসীর এখন প্রথম চাওয়া হতে পারে এটি। তারা চান, যত দ্রুত সম্ভব, পারলে আজই রাস্তাঘাট, অলিগলি, ঘরবাড়ী, প্রাচীরগুলোর দুরবস্থা ঘোচানো হোক।
তবু আমরা নগরবাসী আপনাদের সকল উপদ্রব মেনে নিয়ে পুর নির্বাচনে সহযোগিতা করেছি। আমরা আমজনতা চেষ্টা করেছি আপনাদের শত যন্ত্রণা সহ্য করে আনন্দ, হাসি-কান্নার সঙ্গে মিলেমিশে নির্বাচনী বৈতরণী পার করে দিতে। আপনারা পার হয়েও গেছেন।
নির্বাচন নিয়ে তর্ক-বিতর্ক যা-ই থাক, সে কথা হয়তো আমরা কদিন পর ভুলে যাব। কিন্তু আশা করব, আপনারা ভুলে যাবেন না আপনাদের সেই প্রতিশ্রুতিগুলো, যার দৌলতে আজ আপনারা নগরবাসীর প্রতিনিধিত্ব করছেন।
এ প্রসঙ্গে আরো দু-একটি কথা লিখতেই হয়। কমিশন প্রার্থীদের নির্বাচনী খরচ কমানোর জন্য চার রঙা পোস্টার ছাপাতে দেয়নি। কিন্তু অনেক প্রার্থীকে দেখেছি সেই সাদা-কালো পোস্টার বৃষ্টির হাত থেকে বাঁচাতে গিয়ে পলিথিন দিয়ে মুড়িয়েছেন। তাহলে কী দাঁড়াল? খরচ তো আরো বেড়ে গেল!
যাক, আপনাদের খরচ বেড়েছে তা নিয়ে আমরা জনগণ মোটেও অনুতপ্ত নই। আমরা ব্যথিত এই জন্য যে, আপনারা বারবার বলেছেন পরিচ্ছন্ন নগরী গড়ে তোলার কথা। তাহলে কি আপনারা জানেন না, পরিচ্ছন্ন নগরী গড়তে হলে পরিবেশ রক্ষার বিষয়টি আগে চলে আসে এবং এই পলিথিন পরিবেশের জন্য কতটা ক্ষতিকারক?
শুধু এ কারণে আমরা আর এক মুহূর্তও সময় দিতে চাই না। এখনই আপনারা এই পরিবেশ দূষণকারী পলিথিন মোড়ানো পোস্টারগুলো অপসারণ করুন। তা ধংস করে পরিবেশ রক্ষা করা এই মুহূর্ত থেকে আপনারই দায়িত্ব। আপনারা আরো ভালো করে জানেন, টন টন কাগজের পোস্টার কিংবা রশিগুলো হয়তো একসময় পচে-গলে কাদামাটির সঙ্গে মিশে যাবে। কিন্তু এই পলিথিনকে প্রকৃতি শত বছরেও গ্রহণ করবে না। সুতরাং, জনগণের এখন একটাই চাওয়া, তা হলো নির্বাচনী জঞ্জালমুক্ত আমাদের প্রিয় এই নগরী।
