পরিতোষ বর্মণঃ    বালুরঘাট ব্লকের ভাটপাড়া গ্রাম পঞ্চায়েতের ভাটপাড়া গ্রামকে নির্মল বাংলা গ্রাম হিসেবে ঘোষণা হল। আজ খাদিমপুর ভাটপাড়া প্রাথমিক স্কুল প্রাঙ্গন একটি অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্যে দিয়ে এই ঘোষনা করেন দক্ষিণ দিনাজপুর জেলার অতিরিক্ত জেলা শাসক অগাস্টিন লেপচা। এছাড়াও এদিনের অনুষ্ঠানে হাজির ছিলেন মিশন নির্মল বাংলাএ ডিস্ট্রিক কো-অডিনেটর রনপ্রসাদ চট্টোপাধ্যায়, বালুরঘাট ব্লকের জয়েন্ট বিডিও লক্ষ্মীকান্ত রায়, ভাটপাড়া গ্রাম সংসদের মেম্বার সতিশ পাল সহ অন্যান্য আধিকারিকরা।
ভাটপাড়া গ্রাম পঞ্চায়েতের ১৭টি সাংসদের মধ্যে ভাটপাড়ায় প্রথম গ্রাম যেখানে গ্রামের একশো শতাংশ বাড়িতে শৌচাগার আছে। তাই তারা আর খোলা জায়গায় শৌচ কর্ম করে না। এই গ্রামে মোট ২৫০০ জন বাস করে ৯০০টি পরিবারে। আর এসব পরিবারে শৌচালয় আছে। তাই এদিন প্রশাসনের পক্ষ থেকে ভাটপাড়াকে নির্মল বাংলা গ্রাম হিসেবে ঘোষনা করে।
