মল্লিক বাজারে ধর্মঘট সমর্থকরা জোর করে দোকান বন্ধ করার চেষ্টা করে। এন্টালী বাজার থেকে মিছিল করে এবং কংগ্রেসের সমর্থকরা মল্লিকবাজারে এসে পৌঁছায়। হঠাৎই একদল কংগ্রেস সমর্থক মল্লিকবাজার এর বেশ কয়েকটি খুলে রাখা দোকানে গিয়ে চড়াও হয়। তাদেরকে দোকানের শাটার বন্ধ করতে বলে। এই নিয়ে পুলিশের সঙ্গে ওই কংগ্রেস কর্মীদের সংঘাত তৈরি হয়।

ভীতসন্ত্রস্ত হয়ে বেশ কয়েকটি দোকানদার শাটার বন্ধ করে দেন। আবার পুলিশের পক্ষ থেকে তাদের নিরাপত্তার আশ্বাস দেওয়া হয় এবং দোকান খুলে রাখার কথা বলা হয়। এই ঘটনায় যথেষ্টই আতঙ্ক ছড়িয়েছে ব্যবসায়ীদের মধ্যে।
