“পুরসভা নির্বাচন করার জন্যে আমরা প্রস্তুত। কিন্তু করোনা অতিমারীর কারণে নির্বাচন করা যায়নি। আশা করা হচ্ছে কলকাতা, হাওড়া সহ যেসব জায়গায় নির্বাচন রয়েছে সেগুলো ২০২১এ করা হবে।” মঙ্গলবার হাওড়ায় পদ্মপুকুরে পরিশ্রুত পানীয় জলপ্রকল্পের সূচনা অনুষ্ঠানে এসে সাংবাদিকদের প্রশ্নের জবাবে একথা বলেন রাজ্যের পুর ও নগরোন্নয়ন মন্ত্রী ফিরহাদ হাকিম। তিনি এই প্রসঙ্গে আরও বলেন, “আমরা তো হাওড়ায় পুর নির্বাচন করতে চাইছি। কিন্তু অতিমারীর জন্য কিভাবে করব ? নির্বাচন করার জন্য আমরা প্রস্তুত। গত ২০১৬ এবং ২০১৯ এ হাওড়ায় আমাদের ভোটের ফলাফল আপনারা দেখেননি ? সেখানে আমাদের কিসের ভয় ? কিন্তু অতিমারীর জন্য কলকাতায়, হাওড়ায় এবং অন্যান্য জায়গায় নির্বাচন করাতে পারছি না।
২০২১এ আশা করছি এইসব নির্বাচনগুলো করা যাবে।” এদিন পুরমন্ত্রী বলেন, “১০২ এমএলডি জল আমরা হাওড়া শহরকে দিচ্ছি। কয়েকটি বুস্টিং পাম্পিং স্টেশন রয়েছে। আরেকটির কাজ চলছে। জল সরবরাহ ঠিক হয়ে গেলে হাওড়ায় আর জলের সমস্যা থাকবে না। ড্রেনেজ সমস্যার সমাধানের জন্যে একটা মাস্টার প্ল্যান চলছে। ১৫ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে পথশ্রী প্রকল্পে রাস্তার উন্নয়ন হবে। হাওড়ার প্রতি গলিতে এলইডি লাইট বসবে। হাওড়ার মানুষের জন্য এটা মমতার একটা সম্মান।” উল্লেখ্য, এদিন হাওড়ায় কেএমডিএ কর্তৃক নির্মিত হাওড়া পুরসভার পরিশ্রুত পানীয় জল প্রকল্পের শুভ উদ্বোধন করেন রাজ্যের পুর ও নগরোন্নয়ন মন্ত্রী ফিরহাদ হাকিম। এছাড়াও ১৫টি পথশ্রী প্রকল্পের অন্তর্গত রাস্তার শিলান্যাস করেন তিনি। উপস্থিত ছিলেন মন্ত্রী অরূপ রায়, বিধায়ক জটু লাহিড়ী, ব্রজমোহন মজুমদার, কেএমডিএ এর কার্যনির্বাহী আধিকারিক অন্তরা আচার্য প্রমুখ।
