দলে রয়েছে দুটি নতুন মুখ। বাংলাদেশের বিপক্ষে একই সঙ্গে অভিষেক ঘটতে যাচ্ছে দুই উদ্বোধনী ব্যাটসম্যান এ্যান্ড্রু ফিকেট (৩০) ও ক্যামেরন ব্যানক্রফটের (২২)।
মাইকেল ক্লার্কের অবসরের পর এই সফরের মাধ্যমে পূর্ণাঙ্গ অধিনায়ক হিসেবে স্মিথ অধ্যায়ের শুরু হতে যাচ্ছে। এ ছাড়া প্রথমবারের মতো সহ-অধিনায়ক হিসেবে সফর উপভোগ করবেন ৩৫ বছর বয়সী ভোজেস।
বাংলাদেশ সফরে বিশ্রাম দেওয়া হয়েছে দুই পেসার মিশেল জনসন ও জোশ হ্যাজেলউডকে। তাদের পরিবর্তে পেস এ্যাটাকে নেতৃত্ব দেবেন মিশেল স্টার্ক, পিটার সিডল ও প্যাট কমিন্স।
