পরিতোষ বর্মণঃ গোপন সূত্রে খবর পেয়ে রবিবার বালুরঘাট থানার কামারপাড়া হাটে অভিযান চালিয়ে প্রায় ৪০টি কচ্ছপ সহ দুই ব্যক্তিকে গ্রেপ্তার করল বালুরঘাট থানার পুলিশ। ধৃত কচ্ছপের বাজার মূল্য প্রায় ২০ হাজার টাকা বলে জানা গেছে। ধৃতদের নাম সাগর মালী ও নৃপেন দাস। হিলির ফতেপুর এলাকার বাসিন্দা তারা। আগামীকাল তাদের দক্ষিণ দিনাজপুর জেলা আদালতে তোলা হবে।
জানা গেছে দীর্ঘদিন ধরেই বিহার ও বাংলাদেশ থেকে চোরা পথে কামারপাড়া হাট সহ দক্ষিণ দিনাজপুরে বিভিন্ন হাটে আনা হচ্ছিল কচ্ছপ। এর আগেও বেশ কয়েকবার কিছু কচ্ছপ ও বিক্রেতাকে ধরা গেলেও এই পাচার চক্রের মাথা কে তা অধরায় থেকে গেছে। এদিন দুপুরে বিশেষ সূত্রে খবর পেয়ে বালুরঘাট থানার পুলিশ অভিযান চালায় কামারপাড়া হাটে। কচ্ছপগুলি রাখা হয়েছে বালুরঘাট থানায়। উদ্ধার হওয়া কচ্ছপগুলি তুলে দেওয়া হবে বালুরঘাট রেঞ্জের বন দপ্তরের হাতে।
