বর্ষবরণের রাতে ও নিউইয়ারে সক্রিয় ছিল পুলিশ। আইনভঙ্গ করে হাওড়ায় সিটি পুলিশের হাতে গ্রেফতার হয়েছেন ৪৪ জন। বছরের শেষ দিন ও নতুন বছরের প্রথম দিন উৎসবে মেতে ওঠেন সকলে। বৃহস্পতিবার বর্ষবরণের রাতে ও শুক্রবার পয়লা জানুয়ারি নিউ ইয়ারে হাওড়া শহরে যাতে কোথাও কোনও অপ্রীতিকর ঘটনা না ঘটে তারজন্য হাওড়া সিটি পুলিশ এবার বেশ কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছিল। মহিলাদের উপর ইভটিজিং রুখতে ময়দানে নেমেছিল মহিলা পুলিশের শক্তিবাহিনী। এতেই সাফল্য পেয়েছে হাওড়া সিটি পুলিশ ।
হাওড়া সিটি পুলিশ সূত্রের খবর, এই দুদিন আইন ভাঙার জন্য মোট ৪৪ জনকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে। জুয়া খেলার জন্য সেখান থেকে ১১৮০ টাকা বাজেয়াপ্ত করা হয়েছে। ট্রাফিক আইন ভাঙা কিংবা মদ্যপ অবস্থায় খারাপ গাড়ি চালানোর জন্য ৪৭৯টি বাইক আরোহী ও ৩১৮টি চারচাকা গাড়ির চালকের বিরুদ্ধে উপযুক্ত ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করা হয়েছে। তাদেরকে ফাইন করা হয়েছে। হাওড়া সিটি পুলিশ সূত্রে আরও জানা গিয়েছে, এই দুদিন মোট ১,০১,৩৯০ টাকা বাজেয়াপ্ত করা হয়েছে।
